The Endeavour at Leigh on Sea, September 2014
This is Endeavour. She was an ordinary cockle boat, who joined many others for the Dunkerque evacuation. The crew had probably never ventured out of the Thames estuary before that day, but she made it across The Channel and took part in that amazing operation. She was found – as a wreck – in Rochester in 2001 and was restored over the following 4 or 5 years. A lovely tribute to all those who took part in Operation Dynamo (words by Axel Ostermann)
